Fujifilm Instax: Japan vs Overseas Pricing
For buyers in the UK, EU, and Australia, Instax cameras and film packs are significantly marked up compared to Japanese domestic retail. A Instax Mini film 20-pack sold at Yodobashi Camera in Tokyo retails for approximately ¥1,100–¥1,400 (around £6–7 at current exchange rates). The same pack sells for £14–18 in the UK. Even accounting for shipping costs, high-volume film buyers see clear savings purchasing from Japan.
Limited-edition Instax designs also appear at Japanese electronics retailers and stationery shops (Tokyu Hands, Loft). Seasonal collaborations with Japanese character IP and clothing brands are sold as gift sets and do not reach international markets. Vintage Film Cameras: Japan’s Depth of Supply
Olympus — Japan has exceptional supply of Olympus film bodies. The OM-1, OM-2, OM-4Ti, XA, and Stylus (Mju) series are particularly well-represented. Mamiya RB67 and RZ67 kits, Mamiya 645 systems, Bronica ETR and SQ series, and Fujifilm GW690 and GA645 cameras appear regularly on Yahoo Auctions Japan and at specialty shops in Tokyo’s camera districts (Shinjuku, Nakano). Pricing is typically lower than Western markets for the same condition grade.
